BLE Button Setup Guide: Pair Any Bluetooth Shutter With EchoCircle
Step-by-step guide to pairing a Bluetooth BLE shutter button with EchoCircle as a panic button. What to buy, how to pair, and troubleshooting tips.
This is a complete setup guide for anyone who wants to use a physical Bluetooth button as their panic trigger with EchoCircle.
What to buy
Search Amazon, AliExpress, or any electronics retailer for 'Bluetooth camera shutter remote' or 'BLE selfie button.' Any button that presents as a Bluetooth HID keyboard will work. Popular options: AB Shutter 3 (black puck), Mpow Bluetooth button, or any generic version. Price: $2–10.
Pairing: step by step
- →1. Open EchoCircle → Triggers → BLE Button
- →2. Tap "Add BLE button"
- →3. Put your Bluetooth button in pairing mode (usually hold the button for 3s)
- →4. The app detects it — confirm pairing
- →5. Test: press the button. You should see a test trigger confirmation.
Configuring the button behavior
After pairing, choose what the button does: silent alarm, loud alarm, or a confirmation prompt (press once to arm, press again to confirm). For discreet use, set it to fire immediately on first press without confirmation.
Troubleshooting
- →Button not detected: make sure it's in pairing mode, not already connected to another device
- →Button press does nothing: check that EchoCircle is running in the background with battery optimization disabled
- →Alarm fires too easily: use the 'two-press to confirm' option
- →Button disconnects: keep Bluetooth on, disable battery saver for EchoCircle
Battery tips
BLE buttons run on CR2032 batteries — available everywhere, very cheap. Most buttons last 6–12 months. Keep a spare CR2032 in your bag. When battery runs low the button may become unresponsive — if your button starts missing presses, replace the battery first.
